Druid Hills Primary Care Prescription Refill Policy

  

Overview

  This policy outlines the procedures and guidelines for prescription refills to ensure efficient, safe, and timely medication management for patients.

Refill Request Process

Advance Notice

Patients are encouraged to request prescription refills at least 3-5 business days before their medication runs out.

Request Methods

- Patient Portal: Preferred method for requesting refills.

- Pharmacy: Call your pharmacy and speak with the pharmacist to request refills.

-Phone: Call the primary care practice during business hours.

Eligibility for Refills

Active Prescriptions

Only prescriptions with remaining refills can be processed. If no refills are left, an appointment may be necessary. 

Regular Follow-Ups & Labs

Patients must attend scheduled follow-up appointments and necessary labs to ensure ongoing evaluation of their treatment plan. 

Compliance

 Adherence to the prescribed treatment plan is required for continued refills.

Processing Time

Standard Refill Requests

Processed within 24-72 hours. 

Urgent Requests

Addressed on a case-by-case basis and may incur an expedited fee of $50.

Medication Pickup

Pharmacy Notification

Patients will be notified when their prescription is ready for pickup at their designated pharmacy 

Verification

 Valid ID must be presented when picking up controlled substances in our office.

Special Considerations

Controlled Substances

Controlled Substances: Refills for controlled substances require stricter monitoring and will necessitate an in-person visit every 3 months. 

New Symptoms / Concerns

If new symptoms or concerns arise, an appointment will be required before a new prescription or refill is authorized.

Non-Compliance

 Failure to adhere to this policy may result in delays or denial of refill requests.
